It all began as a space for sharing life in the form of not so great bubble letters.

This is a small passion project that came to fruition after wanting to find a way to feed my artistic desires while also finding a more positive way to engage with social media. When I first created my original instagram account @nsgbubbleletters in June 2021, there was very little thought that went into it. I simply wanted to create more and have something fun to work on outside of my day job that was all my own. Rather than mindlessly consume the content of others, I wanted to intentionally create. So I decided to create words and phrases and other little bits in bubble letters and share them. Since the summer of 2021, the look and feel of the account has shifted a bit and been rebranded to @notsogreat.co. But the general sentiment and purpose has remained the same. That sentiment being that art does not have to be 'perfect' or 'complete' to be shared, art does not require fancy expensive materials, and the joy of creating is more important and valuable than the finished result. The purpose of notsogreat.co and this project being to remind myself and others that good can still be found in things that are not so great.
I am currently working to extend this project in other ways including a small online shop where people can purchase some notsogreat goodies (coming soon-ish/one day!).

I am the CO behind notsogreat.co.

CO as company, corporation or collaboration, community. CO as in Chief Operator or Content Owner. But really CO as in Claire O'Brien. The human behind it all. I have no formal art degree or art experience beyond one elective class in high school. But I have always enjoyed being creative, doing arts and crafts, and getting stuck into an artistic project. I have a 9-5 job that pays the bills and gives me the stability and security to establish notsogreat.co in my free time. My dream is to one day make notsogreat.co a more established or full time gig for myself. I'm a Korean-American adoptee, I love flaming hot cheetos, I struggle with anxiety, I'm engaged to a sweet Croatian fella, I have a basically non existent sense of smell. I am an introverted and independent person who is seeking to expand her community in the form of not so great bubble letters, illustrations, and general a r t.
